So it has almost been a month and it's time for Nathaniel to finally start hearing out of his Left ear. We go up to Lexington on August 31st to see what will happen. They will put his new Cochlear on and test it and by the end of the day, my lil man will be hearing out of both ears after being born deaf. God is Great, God is Wonderful..... I'll keep ya posted

Left Cochlear Implant Surgery 08-03-2010
We're home, Thank God! We left out on Monday night to go and stay at The Ronald McDonald House (which is awesome by the way). While registering and coming back out to unpack the overnight bags, a man backed up into my parked car and dented my bumper pretty bad, it will be getting fixed though. The irony is on September 26th, I got ran off the road about a 1/2 mile away from my house - 2 days before his Right Cochlear Implant Surgery on September 29th in the same car.
Okay, so about his surgery. It was a SUCCESS!!! Praise God!!! At 7:30 a.m. he went back to Pre-op, by 7:54 his surgery had started. This is a procedure that can take up to 2 hours. Last time, his surgery only lasted 5o minutes, this time the surgery lasted 1 hour 50 minutes. He looked so much better this time around too. No paralysis of the facial nerves and not as much swelling as last time either. He is such a trooper :)
I will post new pictures as soon as I can for you to see the progress. Thank you for all of you prayers, we appreciate every one of them.

Getting things ready!!

Needless to say, I am very busy... I'm getting all the overnight bags packed up, a dog sitter for the dog, the house cleaned and a whole lot of praying!
This procedure can take up to 2 hours but if there are no complications, mommy will be holding her boy in less than an hour after surgery.
He has been spunky as ever, I guess he knows he can get away with anything right now since I feel sorry for him :(
Please keep him in your prayers as we go through this surgery again. Every prayer is greatly appreciated.
God Bless!!!

6 MORE DAYS TO NATHANIEL'S LEFT COCHLEAR IMPLANT
As you probably already know, my nerves are a wreck. I know that God is in control and he will take care of his little children. I just ask all of my friends and family to pray, pray, pray for healing, hearing, good doctors, good nurses, no complications and for all things to go according to God's plan. I will keep you updated on how things are going but until then, all I need is prayer and encouragement. Thank you so much and God Bless!

Nathaniel's Update on his Cochlear Implant
First of all, GOD is good all the time...
Nathaniel has progressed so much, he has graduated from preschool, learned to say and identify colors and numbers, and has increased his vocabulary to at least 10 words!
He was seen last week by the audiologist, his hearing test showed that he was now at a 25 to 30 range, with 20 being a normal person's hearing rate. Nathaniel is doing great although if he doesn't have surgery and get the second implant on the left ear, he may lose the 20 to 30 percent of hearing on his other side. So needless to say, Nathaniel will have to undergo this surgery again.
It is a 3 day hospital stay, then a 2 week healing time process before he can go back to normal activity. Every parent hates to see their child go through so much but if I don't do it now, I would be the cause of his future not being all that it could be.... Keep myself and my family in your prayers as I need them dearly for my sanity and my safety and care of my child.
I go to the doctor Monday, June 21 to consult and schedule the next surgery date... I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Nathaniel is going to graduate from Preschool

Nathaniel has been in Preschool since he turned 3 on January 25th,2010. He has made so much progress...
He is trying to count when numbers are addressed to him...
He turns to his name when it is being said...
He will go to the potty and take a bath by just asking him...
NO SIGN LANGUAGE, JUST WORDS!!!

Almost every hand gesture we used to use to help him understand things, he is now understand through words...
Here is a new picture of him in Preschool... We are so proud of him and thankful for "The Cochlear Implant"
